Venttup raises $3 million from Rainmatter and Unicorn India Ventures
Bengaluru manufacturing startup Venttup raised a $3 million pre-Series A round led by Zerodha's Rainmatter and Unicorn India Ventures on 29 October 2026.
Venttup, a Bengaluru startup that designs and makes precision parts for other businesses, has raised $3 million (roughly Rs 25 crore) in a pre-Series A round, Entrackr reported on 29 October 2026. The round was led by Rainmatter, the investment arm of the broker Zerodha, and Unicorn India Ventures. It matters because a fintech-linked investor is backing a manufacturing company, and because India's push to make more components at home is showing up in early-stage funding.
What was announced
A pre-Series A round sits between the first small "seed" cheques and a full Series A, usually when a company has early customers but is not yet ready for a large raise. Venttup was founded in 2022 by Sandeep Nair, M. Wasim Ankli and Joseph Panakkal and was incubated at the Kerala Startup Mission. Unicorn India Ventures also backed its seed round in September 2024, when the amount was not disclosed, per Entrackr's report at the time.
Entrackr says the new money will go towards expanding the engineering team, building precision manufacturing and rapid prototyping facilities, and using AI for business-to-business sourcing, supplier intelligence and operational efficiency. It adds that Venttup is setting up a manufacturing facility in Bengaluru.
What Venttup does
Venttup calls its model "Manufacturing as a Service". A customer that needs a part, say for a data centre or an aircraft, can hand over the whole job: design, prototype, testing and production. Venttup does not own every machine; Entrackr says it works with a network of small manufacturers (MSMEs). Think of it as a general contractor that coordinates specialist workshops and takes responsibility for the finished part.
Its services include precision machining, casting and forging, sheet metal work, industrial automation and robotics. Target sectors are energy, data centres, mobility, defence, aerospace and space. The company's stated aim is to localise parts that India now imports.
What the company says about its growth
These figures come from the company through Entrackr and have not been independently checked. Venttup says revenue grew fivefold to Rs 10 crore in 2025-26, that it added more than 15 large customers in the past 12 months, and that it has a pipeline of about Rs 30 crore. In 2024 the company said it aimed to grow revenue fivefold within 12 months by winning at least 50 new clients and quoted about Rs 2 crore in annual recurring revenue. A fivefold rise to Rs 10 crore is consistent with that goal, though annual recurring revenue and total revenue are different measures.
Why Rainmatter is an interesting lead investor
Global Venturing describes Rainmatter as Zerodha's corporate venture arm, launched in 2016. It reports the fund has partnered with more than 90 startups and invested close to $60 million, starting in fintech and expanding into climate, health and education. It describes Rainmatter's style as patient capital with no exit mandate, mostly at early and seed stages. A manufacturing deal at pre-Series A fits that early-stage pattern, even if it is outside finance.
What is not known
The valuation, each investor's share of the $3 million and any statement from the company or investors were not in the report. Revenue is reported as a growth multiple and a total, with no profit figures, so we cannot say whether the business makes money.
What it means for founders and the sector
For founders, the round shows investors willing to fund hardware and contract manufacturing at an early stage, where timelines are longer than in software. For MSME manufacturers, a platform that brings in orders from larger buyers could be a source of work, though the report gives no terms. For readers following Indian startup funding, it is a small deal, not a trend by itself.
