Privacy policy
What Learning Fanatic collects when you read, subscribe or sign in with Google, how we use and protect it, and how to delete it.
Summary
Learning Fanatic (learningfanatic.com) is a news and learning site. You can read everything without an account. Signing in is optional and only adds lesson progress and saved articles that follow you between devices. We do not sell your information and we do not show advertising.
What we collect when you sign in
You can sign in with Google. From Google we receive only your name, email address and profile photo, and a user ID Google gives us. We never receive your Google password. We do not ask for access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, calendar or any other data in your Google account.
Once you are signed in we also store the lessons you have opened and the articles you have saved, so they appear on every device you use.
How we use it
- To sign you in and show who you are signed in as (your name and photo).
- To keep your lesson progress and saved articles in your account.
- To keep the service secure and to prevent abuse.
We use your information only for these purposes. We do not use it for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell, rent or trade it.
Learning Fanatic's use of information received from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Information from Google is used only to provide the sign-in and account features described here.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with the services that run the site for us: Supabase, which hosts our database and sign-in system, and Vercel, which serves the website. Google handles the sign-in step itself. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Other things we keep
- Newsletter: the email address you give us, to send the newsletter, until you ask us to remove it.
- Notifications: the browser's notification address, if you turn notifications on.
- Visits: anonymous usage statistics (which pages are read), and a live count of how many people are on the site now. The live count is not tied to you.
Storage, security and how long we keep it
Account data is stored in our database with access rules that let each signed-in reader see and change only their own lesson progress and saved articles. Connections to the site are encrypted. We keep your account information until you delete your account.
Your choices and deleting your data
You can delete your account yourself: sign in, open Account, and choose Delete my account and data. That permanently removes your sign-in record, your lesson progress and your saved articles from our database. Signing out clears the copy kept in your browser. You can also remove Learning Fanatic's access from your Google account settings at any time.
For any question about your data, or to ask us to delete it for you, email durugkar.sibling@gmail.com.
Children
Learning Fanatic is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page. Continued use of an account after a change means you accept the updated policy.
